Wednesday morning rolled around and all night it had been a little chilly and misting rain. I couldn't decided if I was going to go or not, but Tom and Larry convinced me to and I am so glad they did. The lake we went to was stocked with catfish the morning before. Tom got there before anyone else and got all set up, then Larry arrived. I was on my way when I got a phone call from Tom telling me they were killing it. I was only a few minutes away and was still very apprehensive.

I arrived to Larry grabbing a rod to pull one in. Then, another rod bent over, and I was told to pick it up and reel it in. They really were not kidding. I set the hook on that catfish and something changed in me it was then I knew that I was going to have to go fishing again. That day we caught around 25 catfish between the 3 of us and were only out there for about 2-3 hours, I was hooked!

There was something still missing that day. It took me a couple of days, but I figured it out when I had a bass hit the lure I just had thrown in. From that point forward I started bass fishing as much as I possibly could. Since then I have moved from just bass and catfish to anything I can try to catch. I still have lot more fish to catch in this crazy life, and I hope you all stick around for the ride.....
My name is Kurtis and I am an avid fisherman. Some might say I fish too much. I always say not enough... A big goal of mine is to fish in major lakes, rivers, streams, etc. in both the US and abroad. I have always wanted to fish places like the Amazon River, Gulf of Mexico, and even Africa. I have been fishing extensively for a few years now but my basic training came from my father at a young age. I spent most of my childhood at a lake or pond with my dad Sam and my brother Rich. I was never really in to fishing though. I would usually only fish for a few minutes then get bored. My dad always tried to keep me interested but I was young and dumb, apparently.

Lets fast forward several long years later to age 33. I was at work one night, 3rd shift, talking to my friends and it was supposed to be a nice out the next several mornings. One of my friends, Tom, had been talking about having the "spring itch," and I had no idea what he was talking about. Tom and another friend of mine, Larry, started talking about setting up a morning to go fishing for Catfish. Tom told me I should come too. I was very hesitant because I just knew that I didn't like fishing. The words of my wife rang in my head," You work hard you should go and do more stuff with the guys." I told them I would go, but not to expect me to last very long. We decided that we would go on Wednesday morning since we all needed to get fishing gear.
